Pickering, North Yorkshire | Things to do in the area

You are literally on the doorstep of these places and only minutes away from:-

  • The North York Moors can be enjoyed by car, foot or ‘Moors bus’
  • Dalby Forest (the Great Yorkshire Forest) has a nine mile toll road drive and lots of activities including walking, mountain biking, a purpose built visitor centre which also offers bike hire and why not try the ‘Go Ape’ experience?
  • Dalby Forest hosts a stage of the World Cup XC Mountain Bike event most years. The course has been developed especially and is 'one of the best in the world' as quoted by many of the foreign competitors who stayed with us here at Rains Farm.
  • Visit the heritage coast with the quaint fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay.
  • The oldest seaside resort in the U.K of Scarborough offers all that a traditional resort can offer.

  • Castle Howard, Duncombe Park, Sledmere House are all stately homes close by.
  • Pickering is only 6 miles away and has a Castle, Beck Isle Museum and of course the famous North York Moors Steam railway which winds its way through the moors stopping at Goathland known as Aidensfield in the television series Heartbeat. • The Yorkshire Wolds are just across the valley and feature the beautiful town of Beverley with its Minster.
