Sampling the surroundings ...

The peace and tranquillity of the Vale of Pickering. The bleating of the sheep echoing across the North York Moors. The waves crashing against the cliffs of the Yorkshire Coast. The feel of history beneath your feet in the City of York.

The sound of the birds in the hedges of the Yorkshire Wolds. The waterfalls rushing between the rocks in the Yorkshire Dales. You could experience all this and more during your holiday at Rains Farm. You'll quickly unwind and then you can either prepare your plans, or simply take each day as it comes ...

Day one ...

You take it easy at first, revelling in the quietness of the countryside and the beauty of the views. You wander along country lanes, exploring the history and heritage of the nearby villages before visiting a local hostelry for a leisurely lunch.

Afterwards you take to four wheels, driving past colourful cottages to the rugged coast with its majestic cliffs and quaint fishing coves. You return over the heather-laden moorland, interrupted only by an aimless sheep or a startled pheasant.

After a candlelit meal at a gourmet restaurant in a picturesque hamlet, you return to Rains Farm for a peaceful sleep.

Day two ...

Today you will explore further. After a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, you are soon walking the weathered walls of historic York. You explore the cathedral, the 'shambles' shopping area where buildings almost meet overhead and relive history at the Jorvik Viking Centre or city museum.

After tasting York's mouthwatering cuisine, you decide to sample its culture. Perhaps the theatre, a concert, or the street entertainers? Whichever you choose, you know that, after a busy day, you can retire to the seclusion of Rains Farm.

Day three ... and the rest ...

Walking in the depths of the country, cycling through the forest or strolling around a stately home or historic church - the choice of exercise is yours. Or perhaps you take a dip at the local pool or a round at Ganton's championship golf course.

Or how about riding a horse - perhaps even a llama - taking a boat trip along the coast, or the North York Moors railway through the county's most unspoilt countryside.

After all, you can recover in luxury back at Rains Farm.
